Does Jeter have the Range?

Not according to a new University of Pennsylvania Research study. What the study basically states is that Jeter misses a lot of balls that he should be catching because he does not have the range. He is ok with balls hit to him but will not field that many hit to the right or left of him.

In this the study maintains that the perception does not gel with the reality. At the same time A-Rod comes up as a much better shortstop. How about that!

Restored Farnsworth would be Nice

We knew Farnsworth always had the potential if he could located his awesome fastball. After three years in New York he may be ready. Girardi feels that he may have gotten accustomed to the place. We are hopeful. Twould make a huge difference if Kyle got his game together. New York Yankees reliever Kyle Farnsworth is ready for a fresh start.

I'm not sure about the miscommunication between him and Torre. It just may be that Farsworth is more comfortable this year. Time will tell.

Will Igawa do the job this year?

Kei Igawa is throwing strikes so far this year. Maybe he is adjusting to Major League Baseball. He was the stikeout leader in Japan. Hopefully, this sorry past season is behind him. Today was encouraging.

Mussina might be on a Short Leash

Mike had a fairly good September but he did have some awfully bad outings last year. He will have to develop some other pitches and definitely keep the ball off the fat part of the plate. With Mussina an umpire can be crucial. If he does not get the corner call there could be trouble for him. He does not have that blazing fastball which helps harder throwing pitchers when batters try to adjust to a fastball they did not expect.

Hopefully, he will continue his September revival. He is a trooper and the Yankee fans will be pulling for him.

Cano keeps getting better

Maybe his day games will get better too. Many joked that being out late the night before has made Cano's efforts at day games mediocre if not terrible. He does seem to have corrected that. How much better can he get. He is just another reason for opposing pitchers to fear the awesome Yankee lineup. And wonder what Girardi will do for him. It can only get better. “If he starts like he finished last year, he could win the batting title,” said the Yankees’ hitting coach, Kevin Long. “I mean, he could run away with it — with 30 homers. That’s what we’re looking at. I think he could be real special.”
