What Speed can do couple with the Second Half of the season

Now that the Yankees are scoring runs the wins are coming. The pitching has been there and now the offense joins up. It does help that the Yankees realize that Posada's injured are prevents him from catching well and throwing out runners. Molina is far and away the better defensive catcher. He is in fact among the best. And pitchers were never that happy with Jorge as a catcher. Hopefully he will adjust to first base or designated hitter.

But the Yankees are looking real good now.

What is wrong with the Yankees!

No problem figuring that out. At least three starters are stinking out the place--Melky, Cano and Posada. Betemit is terrible. And when did you ever see a worst bench? Are you kidding me. Cano and Posada will come around. But Posada' s attitude is not that admirable. What you are Jorge is a mediocre catcher at best.

Start dumping that bench. There has to be players who can give a spark. If you cannot hit you should at least be able to bunt and steal bases. We sure do miss Damon and Matsui. But Betemit and Melky are in dreamland and should be benched until they come to. C'mon this is not rocket science. Time to clean house.

Play Ball $$$$$$$$$

Where have you gone Joe Dimaggio?

Lupica writes in today's News:

"Last season each seat cost $150 per game. This season, because it is the last season at the old Yankee Stadium, the cost went up to $250. Next season, if he wants to keep the same seats when everybody moves across 161st St. to the new Yankee Stadium, the cost will go to $850 per seat......Start with the best seats in the house, first row, dugout to dugout. At the Garden, these are known as the Spike Lee seats. At the Stadium, I still like to think of them as the Rudy Giuliani seats. The plan is to sell these for $2500 next season.
Per seat.

Front-row seats in the first couple of boxes beyond the dugouts, in 14A and 14B on the home side and 26 and 27A on the visitors' side, are supposed to go for $1250. Right behind them, the Yankees are looking for $600 a ticket. Front-row seats that extend from there toward the foul poles? The Yankees want those to go for a thousand.

Five hundred for the ones behind them.

Even seats in the very first row of the upper deck behind home plate will cost $135. Which, if you've been tracking the math, is just 15 bucks less than a seat behind the dugout cost season-ticket holders just one season ago. It is a good thing that these "premium" seats are going to make up only 10% or so of the new ballpark. Because there are also "non-premium" seats at field level that go for $325. There are at least 3,400 of those and 500 more that go for $200 a seat."

OUCH!!

Not the Same without A-Rod

Wang is doing well. Mussina and Pettit are not bad. We have to be patient with the kids, Hughes and Kennedy. The Yankee bats are mediocre. There is a gap. Not only not seeing A-Rod's Ruthian shots but just waiting for him to come to bat to see what he will do. It is like paying attention when Dimaggio, Mantle or Reggie strode to the plate. There was the explosion, the tension about what might happen and the tremendous talent before your eyes.

Let's appreciate what we have Yankee fans. We are in the midst of history.

Mussina remains stubborn in his Twilight year

We understand that he is not the pitcher he used to be. But to put balls over the middle of the plate to Manny shows an inflexibility that a pitcher with diminishing skills can ill afford. He made a terrible pitch to Manny in Boston after assuring his manager that he could get him out. Last night, not just once, but twice did Mussina throw a pitch into Manny's wheelhouse.

He has to be on a short leash. It is more of the same from last year. Either he changes his approach or time to send him to the minors to get it right. Perhaps.

Wang is different this year.

Wang is showing more variety this year. He is using his fastball more. Was it ever impressive at 95 in the 9th inning. Even though the Yankees hitting is below par the Yankees record has not suffered badly. Girardi manufactured two runs tonight with bunts which, as far as I am concerned is a no-brainer. Bunting the runner in scoring position and even to third with less than two outs is smart baseball. So many things can happy with a bunt. Many pitchers are not good at handling bunts, especially when the throw has to go to third base.

Wang is impressive this year and so is the manager.

Tough Game with Another Injury

Hughes had trouble getting ahead in the count and Posada showed that his arm was not any better due to the injury. A lot of injuries after a great spring. Kansas City's speed certainly hurt today. A-Rod did not have a good day. But the home plate ump did not help either. Jorge probably has to go on the disabled list so he can fully recover.

It's early. Their record is even and they are not hitting that well yet.
